Hoe was het om eindelijk eens een break te kunnen nemen tijdens het wnba seizoen? (door de Olympische spelen was er een break)
Ann:
Het was echt een welgekomen vakantie. Na ons seizoen in Rusland kwam ik onmiddellijk naar San Antonio. Ik had dus niet echt tijd om veel te rusten tussen mijn twee competities. Maar nu ben ik terug helemaal fit om het einde van het seizoen hier af te werken met de play-offs in het vooruitzicht.

How was it to take a break during the wnba season? (because of the Olympic Games)
Ann:
I went back home to enjoy some time with family and friends. And to give my body a rest. I wasn’t able to rest much in between my two seasons (Russia and the wnba), so it was a very welcome break. Now I feel 100% to play the rest of the season.


Jullie hebben nog 5 wedstrijden te spelen in het reguliere seizoen. Voorlopig staan jullie op de eerste plaats in het Westen. Hoe belangrijk is die eerste plaats voor San Antonio?
Ann:
We hebben nog 5 moeilijke wedstrijden. Maar ik denk dat de sleutelmatch vrijdag tegen Los Angeles is. Het is belangrijk om het thuisvoordeel te behouden tegen LA voor de play-offs.




You have 5 more games to play in the regular season. San Antonio is in first place in the ‘WEST’ for the moment. How important is it to maintain that first place?
Ann:
We have 5 difficult games coming up. But I think the key is to beat LA on friday at home. So that we can have homecourt advantage for the play-offs.


Zijn de ‘Silver Stars’ titelkandidaat?
Ann: Ons eerste doel is nu om onze ‘Western Conference’ te winnen. Los Angeles wordt al het hele seizoen naar voren geschoven als titelkandidaat. Dus dat neemt toch wel wat druk van onze schouders. Het ‘Westen’ is een hele sterke competitie. Het zal allemaal een beetje afhangen van de play-off plaatsen. Wie tegen wie speelt in de eerste ronde.


Are the Silver Stars going for the wnba championship?
Ann:
Our first goal is to win the ‘Western Conference’. The West is a very strong competition with great teams. I think it will all come down to the play-offs spots. Who will play who in the first round..

Na je seizoen in Amerika sluit je terug aan bij je ploeg in Rusland, CSKA. Wat zijn de vooruitzichten in Rusland?
Ann:
Ja ik zal onmiddellijk na de wnba aansluiten bij mijn ploeg in Moskou.
Onze eerste competitiewedstrijd in Rusland is al op 8okt in Novosibirsk. Onze eerste euroligawedstrijd op 15 okt tegen Lille.
We hebben een goede ploeg met de nodige versterkingen: Janel Mc Carville (New York), Katie Douglas (Indiana), Olexandra Gorbunova (Ukraine), Ludmila Sapova ..
Het zal een sterke competitie worden met de gekende rivalen, Spartak Moscow, Ekaterinburg en Dynamo Moscow..





You will be joining you team CSKA Moscow after the wnba season?
Ann:
Yes I will join my teammates in Moscow after the season here. We have our first game on Oct 8th in Novosibirsk. Our first euroleague game is on oct 15, against Lille.
We will have a very good team. Some great players were added to the roster:
Janel Mc Carville (New York), Katie Douglas (Indiana), Olexandra Gorbunova (Ukraine), Ludmila Sapova..
It will be a very strong league with the familiar rivals, Spartak Moscow, Ekaterinburg and Dynamo Moscow.

Laatste vraag, WNBA titel of EUROLIGA titel?
Ann: Ik wil ze allebei!!


Last question: WNBA or EUROLEAGUE title?
I want both titles!!
